Maureen’s inspiration mainly comes from her home city of Cambridge and the surrounding area. Although her oil paintings initially appear realistic due to the intricate detail, look carefully and you can see a whimsical humour as she paints people and cows in unexpected places.

Above, a rich night sky and a shining moon light up the scenes and below, carpets of flowers and leaves may litter the ground; and occasionally in the distance appear references to those imaginative landscapes often found in medieval paintings.

As a relief from the time consuming paintings, Maureen also makes prints which are hand painted from a block and printed onto black Ingres paper. These are made in small editions of 5 although each one is unique due to the individual finishing.
